How to Use StreamLog

StreamLog is a free shared movie, TV, and anime watchlist built for couples. This guide walks you through everything — from creating your account to inviting your partner — so you can start watching together in a few minutes.

1. Create your account

You only need an email address to use StreamLog.

   Go to the StreamLog home page and click Get started or Sign in.

   Switch to the Create account tab and enter your email, a password (at least 6 characters), and confirm the password.

   Open the verification email StreamLog sends and click the link inside.

   Sign in with your email and password. You'll land on your dashboard, where you can manage your lists.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot password on the sign-in screen and follow the reset link. StreamLog never shows whether an email has an account, so you'll always see the same "reset link sent" message.

2. Create a list

Everything you track lives inside a list. You can have up to 8 lists per account.

   On your dashboard, click the New list button.

   Give it a name — for example "Movie Night".

   Choose a type:

Tap a list card to open it. Use the pin icon to keep your favorite list at the top (each member pins for themselves), and the trash icon to delete a list — only the list owner can delete it. Inside a list, the Settings menu next to the name lets you rename it inline, duplicate it, delete it, or refresh it.

3. Add movies, TV & anime

There are three ways to add a title to a list.

A. Search from your list

   Open a list and click Add from search.

   Start typing — results appear automatically as you type (no search button needed). Use the All, Movies, TV, and Anime tabs to focus the search.

   Choose the status to add it with (the default is Will Watch), then click Add on the right result.

Movie and TV search uses OMDb with an automatic TMDB fallback, so obscure titles still get found. Anime search checks AniList first, then Jikan. Can't find it anywhere? Click Add custom link at the bottom of the dialog (method C below).

B. Discover from the dashboard

Scroll to Discover More on your dashboard for trending movies, series, and anime. Click a genre pill (Trending, Action, Romance, and more), then hover a poster and click Add to pick a list and status.

C. Add a streaming link directly

If a title isn't in the databases, open Add from search and click Add custom link at the bottom of the dialog ("Can't find what you're looking for?"). Paste a link (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.), give it a name, choose its type, and pick a status — use the back arrow to return to search. It shows up as a card with an Open link button.

D. Search from anywhere

Use the Search button in the top bar of any app page. Pick a result, choose the list to add it to, set a status, and click Add to list. If a title is already in that list, StreamLog says so and offers Add again.

4. Track statuses

Each title in a list has a status. Your list groups titles into rows by status, so you always know what's next.

To change a status: open the title's detail view and tap one of the five status pills. It saves instantly and the title moves to that row. Changing a status also bumps the title to the top of its row, so your most recent picks are easy to find.

Filter by movies, TV, or anime

Above the status rows sits a row of tabs — All, Movies, TV, and Anime. Pick one to show only that type of title, which makes it easy to scan just your films or just your shows without losing the status grouping.

Episode & season progress

Series and anime titles get a Progress panel in their detail view. Set your current season and episode with the steppers and press Save progress — StreamLog shows a progress bar plus a hint like "3 of 12 episodes watched · 9 left." Progress is per member, so you and your partner can be at different episodes — the panel even tells you when every episode is watched.

5. Rate titles

   Click any title card to open its detail view.

   In the My rating card, pick a score from 1 to 10. It saves the moment you select it.

   In shared lists, the Average rating card shows how you and your partner felt — each member's score is listed next to their name.

The average is the mean of both ratings, rounded to one decimal. You can change your rating any time, and setting "Not rated" clears it. Ratings are per member — your partner's score never overwrites yours.

6. Leave notes

   Open a title and scroll to the Notes section.

   Type a short thought and click Save my note.

   Each member's note appears with their name, like "Alex: loved the ending!" Use Remove note to delete yours.

7. Where to watch

StreamLog tries to attach up to 2 legal streaming links (Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll, and more) to every title, so you can jump straight to watching.

   When you add a new title, its watch links usually appear immediately in the Where to watch card.

   For older titles without links, the links are fetched in the background and show up the next time the list loads — or right after you press Refresh.

   You can also add up to 3 manual links per title: click Add site, enter a name and a URL starting with http:// or https://, and save. Hover a link pill and click the X to remove it.

Watch links are deep links into each streaming service, so they open the title directly. If no links are available, the card says "No watch links yet."

8. How refresh works

The Refresh option in a list's Settings menu re-fetches the entire list from the server. It's there so you catch up on changes your partner made on another device.

9. Members & invites

A Shared list can hold up to 3 members (you plus 2). Open the list and click Members to see everyone on it and manage invites.

   Open your shared list and click Members. The dialog shows the current members (n/3) and, for the owner, the invite controls.

   Create an invite link and either restrict it to your partner's email, or leave it blank so anyone with the link can join. Copy the link with the copy button.

   Share the invite link yourself — StreamLog doesn't email it. The link expires in 7 days and works once.

   Your partner opens the link, signs in (or creates an account), and lands directly in the shared list.

If the invite is restricted to an email, the recipient must sign in with that exact account. Expired or already-used links show a clear error instead of joining the list. As the owner you can also transfer ownership with Make owner or take someone off the list with Remove.

10. Edit profile & sign out

   Click your avatar (your initial) in the top-right corner of any app page.

   Choose Edit profile to set your name and a profile image URL (your initial is shown if you skip it). Changes appear on shared lists and title notes.

   Choose Change password to update your password — enter your current password and the new one twice, with show/hide toggles on every field.

   Choose Sign out to end your session. You'll be returned to the sign-in screen.

Forgot your current password? Sign out and use the Forgot password link on the sign-in screen instead.
